A week of Pre-fishing and the Flw Tournament!
Friday my Partner Tim Scott and I jumped in the truck and headed down to Matlacha for Pre-fishing. Day One we tied off the boat to the dock at night right when we got there and in the morning it was the lowest tide I have ever seen down there! It took us around 2 solid hours to get out and we were still able find some good fish and catch a few. Bert's now has a Maine lobster machine in there we were able to get 4 out of the machine!

For the next week we check out everywhere in the area. We found schools of fish smaller fish and just really sat back and watched what they do and figure out new areas. I have always wanted to check out Bull Bay and we did see 3 snook at least 30 LBS in there! I also now know my way around down south really well!
Cody and Kyle came down and stayed at Frank's place with us for a couple nights. Wednesday and Thursday we got a hotel close to Laishley Marina in punta Gorda. Day one of the FLw tournament.. Get there in the dark all the boats put in and they have 4 flights 1-111 and number by number boats are flying off. We got to our spot and the tide was still super low we had to wait for the tide to come up. But just like clockwork the school arrived I was able to get a 25 inch fish and then a fish right on 27. Tim insisted on leaving we ran to a second location to check on the other school we found and I got a nice 24 inch fish which we released.
A few minutes later we started second guessing our fish in the well so we measured him again and he was a hair over. We ran back to where we had fish and didn't really give it enough time and made the run. WE MESSED UP! It was a over so we got deducted a Lb and weighing in only one fish killed us. So day I was ready to get on the fish. The tide was still running out so we pretty much had to wait for the fish to start pushing on the flats. Cody and Kyle were on the school as well and Cody got one first a perfect fat 27 then Tim and I got a double header he got a 24 inch fish and I got one 26 1/2. The school of fish was kinda getting sketchy so we ran down and right off the bat I got another perfect 26 1/2 almost 27 inch fish. All the fish were caught on the greenie CAL or the Golden Brim CAL. Satisfied we made the run back. We weight in a little over 12 LBS but day one killed us so we got 51st! Cody got 37 i think. Learned from mistakes and ready for these next ones coming up!
