Super Lows..Courteous Mullet man. And Then a killer Big snook bite!
Today I met up with my buddy Kevin out at the Fort Desoto Park we Made our paddle towards tarpon key. Pretty much everything was bone dry besides the Big holes out there. We found an area with a ton of mullet and we just got on em pretty much every cast. We were getting nice trout on the white spook and the Golden Bream CAL. Were the only lures we had to use. With the tide still running off the flats all the fish fell into the Basin. We see mullet man across the way getting his smaller boats ready with the nets. We were starting to become pretty bummed about it because we were thinking he was going to come in on us and do big donuts around us and ruin the killer bite we are on. They ended up doing it way off in the distance and they we watching us just wailing on the fish left and right.
We could hear them talking in their country boy accents saying they must be on the redfish good and then to our surprise they loaded up and ran off the flat. If I would have seen him later I would have thanked him for being courtesy. In a month or so we are going to have mullet man all over the place and I that is the first time I've had that happen. We kept on em then off in the distance you could see the front coming it came through and the temperature had to drop at least 10-15 degrees. Then fish stopped everything got quiet. We had to wait a few minutes tail the weird foggy mist past.
Pretty soon after that the sun came out and we had the first of the flood tide now the reds got really fired up.
There was also allot of nice trout up to low 20s and some big jumbo bluefish.

With the tide rushing in super quick pushing water on the exposed flat the reds pushing up on it like clock worm and began tail happily around the big mullet. The were tuff getting them to take we watched for a few minutes and we were satisfied. We done by 1 and we both got around 20 trout a piece in the lower 20's and around 6 reds or so for each of us from 24-30 inches and 6 or so big bluefish that will not stop and a few small flounder.
I had a BLAST fishing, laughing and figuring out the fish with my buddy Kevin today!
Got some food ran a couple errands. Swung by Star Graphics talked to Jill Foraker and Tom Verdenski while I was picking up my business cards. I was telling them I need to get my own flats boat for different things and they are going to try and hook me up with a good boat sponsor. So im excited about that! I called up two of my buddies Brian Crabtree and Tim Scott told them to meet me at my house because I knew snook bite was going to be hot!
We loaded up the yaks and threw them in. Paddling along we spooked a couple big snook right off the bat. Tim was working the Maverick gray back and hooked a monster snook after a intense battle I was able to assist and lip her and crabby pushed the boat ashore and we were able to snap a couple pictures. She was 37-38 inch we revived her and sent her on her way.

I didn't even catch the snook and it still gave me the shakes and I was fired up and it was Tim's first snook out of the Kayak!
We soon seen another monster snook sitting facing into the tide in the 40 inch class with his big yellow fins sticking 6-8 inches off the top of the water.
Crabby soon sounded off with FISH ON! Good fight and crazy tarpon like jumps he landed a 33 incher on the dot!

When I took the hooks out the hook broke with no problem he had rusty ole fresh water hooks on his bomber but he landed it and it was his first Keeper of the season!
Soon after we got situated Tim's on I paddle over after a good fight and land his fish. It was now dark and i didn't dring a light and she swallowed pulling on the line with the fish in my lap the line frayed through just like that!

It was Tim's first keeper of the season for him as well!
Then we Turned around and crabby hooks up again after another good fight and acrobatically jumps he lands a nice 31 incher!

It was nice hanging out with my good friends and able to put them on some big snook and I knew right where they were going to be sitting! We had our limit of snook and everyone was satisfied. I am giving my fish to my buddy John Jablon for his tradition fish fry for Saturday! Only a few days left of snook season to spare too! Came home ate some grouper. Another Amazing day in paradise we will see what tomorrow will bring!
