Killer low tide Bite with Sam in Gladesmen, Business Phone calls and then a 10 Lb king on the Calcutta 400!

Wow today was another amazing day! I met up with Sam first thing in the morning at Fort De Soto boat ramp.  We exchanged and traded a new camera the Panasonic Lumx FZ20  a Stradic Mg for Spencer and some money for the kayak that I won at the Osprey Bay Tournament.  We took out the Gladesmen which is really a fancy gheenoe. Very cool little boat.   Our original plan was to try and get some flounder but with the strong North East wind we decided to go to a spot where both of have caught fish on  high water but have never fished it on a super low tide.   So we got where we needed to be and decided to get out and waded and had the howling wind to our back.  We worked the pot holes and almost instantly we were hooked up we caught a ton of nice size reds and small to respectable trout.  I was working the 1/4  Golden Brim CAL and he was working gulp on a mission fishing Jig head.

It was amazing how many scallops were all OVER the place spitting water up in the air.  They were on the edge  when it almost went bone dry and big ones good to see them doing  well that means the water quality is very good!

We walked all the way back to boat with the tide pretty much all the way out.  Grabbed some water and more CAL Jigs and walked the other direction.

After a long walk we found a deeper hole with a ton of and we both knew that it was going to be holding fish.  Now the tide was running in we got on the rat reds real good and a little flounder the bigger reds didn't want to eat in the hole they pushed up on the flat and started tailing.  We watched them  in awe and worked our way back to the boat.  Sam almost stepped on a monster flounder it was lower 20's for sure! He then got a phone call from Glenn Pla and Glen and Sam chatted about out trip to the Everglades and they will be airing it on the show on Friday I think at 7.  We then got in the boat and we had enough water to run back to the boat ramp.
We called it a day by 11:30 and we got around 20 reds and 10 trout and a small flounder not bad at all!

On The drive home I got a call from Brock Fendler with public relations way up north.  He was actually looking for AL Stillman a Jersey guy that fishes for Blue fish and Stripers.  But they had the numbers mixed up on the Wilderness contacts but we got talking for about 20 minutes and we are going to help each other out.  Nice Guy!   Got a phone call from my buddy Donovan and he wanted me to go with them and get some kings. I grabbed some chum and some shrimp just in case we run into a triple tail or too.  I put them on my aerator and ran home cooked me a couple snapper sandwiches.  Talked to Captain Wayne and about placing a order because I was getting so low and told him how good fish has been.  He is going to hook me up with Mark Nichols and we are going to test out the new big fish lure on my big snook! Very soon! I also called up Duffy from Saltwater Angler because he wanted me to call him when I can start getting on the big snook.  I chatted with him for a few and he could get out because he just had 2 twins and he called up Paul and his wife is getting ready to have a baby.  I Gave them congrats! He is going to hook me up with Rick Brown a real established writer!  I figured im on a roll so I called up Chris Dawson from St.Croix and we had talked about getting me on the program before and he got my info and is sending  me out the forms.   So Im in with them and going to send business to my buddy's at Dogfish!

I met up over at Tim's house and Donovan, Tim and I took out his boat.  Threw the net a couple times got big Threadfin's at secret bait spot.  Ran out a couple miles on the beach.  We got our slick going there out a bait and ZZZ King on I got to battle it on a the Calcutta 400 after a fun fight got a nice 10 LB king in the boat.

We got the curse the fish on the first bait or cast is always bad news.  The front came around again with the real foggy clouds and the Kings did not want to chew.  We tried everything slow trolling chumming, cutting up minnow and doing are slick.  We also tried anchoring up with threads under balloons and still nothing.  Sun went down and we headed in it fun getting one on a small bait caster and fishing with my buddy's Tim and Scott!  We will see what happens tomorrow!
