Hunt for Reds Spot tournament
Today Was the Hunt for Reds Sport Tournament hosted at the Family Boating Center at Bay Pines. This was the first spot tournament that has been done on this coast but it ran very smoothly. Saturday at 5 was the way in and they told everyone the rules that you had to have the fish alive and back to the bay Pines Marina for the way in at 2:30. Lines in the water time was 7:25. So I went where I was on fish the day before the wind was blowing at leash 25 mph in my face so I paddled for a bout a half our into the wind as the sun was coming out. Staked out the kayak and grabbed the Bone spook and worked the edge of the grass with the low tide running out even lower I was able to pick up a couple reds 2-3 spotters and got a couple nice 20 inch trout. Moved around and waded miles the wind was just to hard to fish properly. Checked where I had the tailing reds the day before and I seen a couple tails but with boats coming trough the channel and the strong wind it just didn't work out. So I decided to wrap it up and call it a day. I was set up and ready to keep a red fish alive with no problems too. They had a huge raffle full of prizes. The winner of the tournament was a 10 spot red and he took home the Hewes tail fisher..
