Osprey Bay Tournament
The Osprey bay Tournament was today and my buddy Tony and I fished together. We put in at safe light and started heading to the zone. Look around the corner there were already a couple boats and a couple guys wading. Started working the Johnson Silver minnow and bam a nice 34 inch red on the 8th cast I was excited getting her right off the bat. Threw the super spook Jr out on the deeper part of the flats and caught a bunch of clone trout the biggest I could get was 16 1/2. Then I began to work the docks with a CAL greenie and seen the snook come out and eat it then I felt the weight of the fish. It was an intense battle she tried rapping me 3 times around the pilings slowly babying her out then the spook stuck on the line with the snook still peeling and jump finally lipped her and tossed her in the yak she came out to be a nice 30 inch fish. My heart was racing and I was shaking thats what is all about just got to try to stay calm with snook around structure. Worked on trying to get a bigger trout. Tony ended getting a few reds his biggest being a 32 incher and he got a 16 inch trout. So we decided to head to another spot. On the way back to the truck Tony got broke off by a nice slot snook.
The 2Nd spot was not as protected we both caught some small snook and reds up 18 inches. We took off to the weigh in and I got 1St place slam with 78 1/2 inches (they deducted a inch on the snook and red it's hard measuring a big fish in a kayak sitting down to get a good pic) I ended winning a eddy line sit inside fishing kayak. Tony ended up winning 1St place red with his 32 inch red winning a heritage redfish which he later traded Steve for his Phoenix 14 he won. Todd from the Wilderness team placed as well.. So it was a good day!
Keep it bent!
